LR - before and after. To show what Lightroom can do quickly I set the timer for 30 seconds and made some basic adjustments. Click the link above to see what can be done quickly to enhance your images. _______________________________________________________________ Why Lightroom? As a digital photographer and teacher I need an efficient and reliable system to store and organise my photos so that I can retrieve them quickly when needed. Secondly, I need to be to do simple editing such as cropping, adjusting colour temperature and exposure, controlling highlights and shadow areas in order to bring the image closer to what I saw at the time of capture. (One problem with photography is that what you see and what the camera captures is not quite the same thing so you need to be able to fix this.) Finally, I need to be able to output them for whatever purpose I need, be it a print, the web, a slideshow or Photobook. The gold standard for achieving this is Adobe Lightroom – for both Mac and Windows computers. Simply learning an efficient non-destructive post-capture workflow will simplify your photographic life. This introduction aims to show you why Lightroom will help you save time, frustration and improve your images significantly. Of course Lightroom can do a lot more than these basics but learning the essentials is the first step to productivity. There are many traps for young players, most of which I fallen into! My aim of this course is to get you started, or move you along, while making you aware of the pitfalls. Make my pain your gain! Chances are you may never need Photoshop when you see what LR can do. However it is included in the subscription and as you become more advanced you might want its capabilities. Lightroom - and a description - is available here - you can start with a free 30 day trial and begin to appreciate its possibilities. Bring your own laptop - or I can organise a computer for you at reasonable cost - bring images on a USB or HD. Or you can treat it as a demonstration class. Class size typically 3 or 4 (capped at 5) so lots of personal attention. Cost - 2 x 3 hours workshop + an hour online support - $135. Or 3 x 3 workshops + 90 mins online for $175 NB small group. Private tuition also available by negotiation. Value for money? Consider group size in looking at alternatives. Eg. A city retailer offers LR class 3 x 150 minutes at $225 or $30 hr to be one of 10~12 students.
